The UPPSC PCS Exam consists of three stages: Preliminary, Mains and Interview. The Preliminary exam is an objective type test that consists of two papers: General Studies Paper 1 and CSAT Paper 2. The Mains exam is a descriptive type test that consists of eight papers: General Hindi and Essay Paper, General Studies Papers 1 to 4, and Optional Subject Paper.   • Visit the official website of UPPSC i.e.



  • Click on the link CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD ADMIT CARD FOR ADVT. NO. A-1/E-1/2023 COMBINED STATE/UPPER SUBORDINATE SERVICES (P) EXAM-2023



  • On the admit card page, you are required to enter Registration Number, Date of Birth and select your Gender



  • Click on Download Admit Card button and save your admit card as a PDF file



  • Take a printout of your admit card and check all the details carefully



Important Documents to Carry




Apart from your admit card, you also need to carry some other essential documents with you on the exam day. These are:


  • Two passport-size photos



  • A valid photo ID and its photocopy such as Driving license, Aadhar card, PAN card, Passport Voter ID card, or Central/ State Government Employee ID card

UPPSC PCS Exam Pattern 2023




Prelims Exam Pattern




The Prelims exam is the first stage of the UPPSC PCS Exam. It consists of two papers: General Studies Paper 1 and CSAT Paper 2. Both papers are of 200 marks each and have a duration of two hours each. The papers are conducted in offline mode and have multiple-choice questions. There is a negative marking of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer. The minimum qualifying marks for CSAT Paper 2 is 33%. The marks obtained in the Prelims exam are not counted for the final merit list.

This paper tests the candidates' knowledge of current events, history, geography, polity, economy, environment, science and technology, etc. The paper has 150 questions and covers the following topics:
